Parent love

Image
As a parent regardless of size, race, religion and all the things you believe separate us. We love.  I can stare in your eyes and know that we share the same struggles when it comes to our children. I know that love is what we all give to them be it in different ways. We want the best for our children no matter how that may play out. We struggle or may have different ways of expressing the love we have. Some will judge the wisdom of why I may do things the way I do them or the way that you may do things the way that you do them. But we love. We are trying to learn how to be the best parent that we can be. hearts in a box - www.rbgstock.com Sometimes it seems like pure   hard work and at other times it seems effortless. Sometimes we are filled with guilt about oh so many things. For some of us we think we do not have the blue print that we want because if we are really honest some of us don’t want to be the kind of parents that our parents were to us. It’s ...

Schools: Should we pay for extra tutoring for our children?

Image
I guess you always experiment on the first child because you are learning the ropes. Sometimes we can make a big mistake thinking that one size fits all. I have two children both of whom are different. Thank God! When my first child was at primary school she couldn't understand maths. Or should I say she was finding it challenging.  I spoke to her teacher to see if there was anything that I could do to help. The response was that she would grow into it and to give her time and see. So I gave it time and each parent consultation I walked away feeling that I was not helping my child. Each time she had homework I found I was more and more frustrated with her. I used to yell at her for not doing the work and when she gave me dumb answers I used to go ballistic.  screamin by ralaenin Yeah I know not a good look but I know you have been there.   I had  timetable posters plastered on all the walls in her room. More posters to help her than I had art work hanging ...

New Year: Moving forward

Image
Sometimes it is so hard to think about how to move on from a situation that you may find yourself in. Not everyone has a faith to cling to when the road you're on is shaking to its foundations. Not everyone has the ear of good friends to talk to who will truly listen: A skill that few seem to possess because they want so much to help you solve your problems or to stop you from hurting. Not everyone can afford to go to counselling.  I don't know if we really realise just how deep our feelings about some things can run. Sometimes it can be so deep that we are not even aware of it. I don't know about you but I've buried my feelings so deep that I  thought, because Ostricch by Pawny@rgbstock.com I couldn't find words to express how I felt, that it was obvious that I felt nothing. Wrong!  I felt deeply. I might not have had the words but I sure bloody had the feelings. I also thought that because my feel...

Welcome to 2015

Image
Welcome to a new beginning, a fresh start and new adventures ahead. I know there are some things I will look Zela@rgbstock.com forward to whilst some others will fill me with fear. If anything 2014 proved to me that I am a survivor. Some things have gone my way while others have not. That’s life I'm afraid. Some things I liked while there were others that I didn't like. Some things I handled well while others I wished I had handled better. One thing that I can rest assured will happen is that things will change. Why? Because life changes and I have changed too. I know that some of the changes that lay ahead will be embraced while others I may want to resist. None the less change will come.  I celebrated my birthday yesterday and what might have filled me with dread earlier on in the year was not the reality that I had imaged.  I witnessed an outpouring of love. For the first time, in a long while, I recognised it and embraced it. It felt incredible! I felt like what...

Parents: Separated

It  is Christmas 2014 and I am alone.  I made a decision that my children could spend time with their father. This decision was made in their best interest but has left me without them for Christmas, my birthday and the welcoming of the New Year. In my head I know this is the right decision for them but my heart now aches because I miss them. Somewhere in all this I know I am not the only parent feeling like this especially at this time of the year.   I wasn't going to spill my guts in a blog but then whilst looking on my Facebook page someone tagged a like for a comment that I had posted on their wall back on 2/6/2014. This drew me back to what I had shared and I share it with you because up until reading that post I was feeling a little raw but this is what I had said back then… “ I   believe my maturity is shown when I encourage my children to have a relationship with their father even though we are no longer a couple. Do I feel...

What's happened to good customer service?

Why in the heck  can't  you get good customer service nowadays? Is it really too much to ask that people communicate sensibly with customers?  You know when you get poor service you can either act like some wild animal raging and snarling at the teeth or just be so cool that the sarcasm is lost on the intended victim. Are people really trained or just thrown to the front of the store? If I was one of them secret shoppers some people would be in serious trouble. Well at least that's the story in my head.  What’s got me upset?  Let me tell you. I go into this patty shop to buy a patty. As I enter the shop there is big dude in front of me and to my left there are 3 people sitting on stools like  they've  been served and waiting. To my right is another two and next to me is the elderly man who is the reason why  I'm  in this shop in the first place! Anyway behind the counter is a young male adult and behind him is a femal...

Health scares: Are they trying to kill us off?

Image
The other night I was talking to a mate of mine and one comment   he said made had me sit up. He said that it wasn't public knowledge that the UK blood banks had been sold off to a company that ran Burger King! I laughed however he wasn’t. I said I had to check it out and sure enough he was correct.   UK plasma supplier sold to US article 18th July 2013  http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/is-there-no-limit-to-what-this-government-will-privatise-uk-plasma-supplier-sold-to-us-private-equity-firm-bain-capital-8718029.html .  Ok it is a subsidiary company but none the less the point stands. I tried to think about what this actually means to the service we might receive. Here in the UK there are blood drives where the public are reminded to give their donate their blood. There are people who regularly and freely donate their blood to help the NHS service in the work that they do. We do not sell our blood but is this where we are heading?  Why wou...
